Dr Christine Logan


Dr Christine Logan is a Senior Lecturer in Music in the School of the Arts and Media at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. She has performed, broadcast and recorded as piano soloist, duo-pianist, chamber musician and fortepianist in Australia, USA and Canada. With pianist Julie Adam, she recorded the complete duo piano music of Frank Martin for ABC Classics.

A contributor to the Revised New Grove and Oxford Music Online, she has published articles and book chapters on aspects of Australian music, the piano music of Frank Martin, Beethoven, Gabriel Fauré and Messiaen.

She is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium (DSCM Teacher’s and Performer’s Diplomas), Uni of Sydney (BMus and MMus Hons). The Sydney Moss Travelling Scholarship from U Sydney and a teaching assistantship enabled her to gain the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati, USA where she studied piano with the Hungarian pianist, Béla Siki. Her other principal teachers were Marjorie Docherty and Elizabeth Kozma. She was also coached by Menahem Pressler in Banff and Malcolm Bilson (fortepiano). Christine is currently a Federal examiner and NSW Keyboard Advisor for the AMEB. She has frequently been an adjudicator for scholarships, eisteddfodau and other competitions.
