Deborah Wells


Deborah Well’s performing career began at age 19 with the vocal harmony group The New Tradition. Over 25 years of professional work, Deborah performed in all forms of Musical Theatre from Cabaret to Grand Opera, from Pantomime to Concerts. She has also appeared on television in series and variety shows.

She has directed highly successful seasons of musicals and plays at Footbridge Theatre, Seymour Centre, Riverside Theatre & Tom Mann Theatre and in 2000 directed over 120 tertiary students in a series of street theatre performances during the Sydney Olympic Games.

After a few years of running performance skills workshops in the corporate sector Deborah found her niche concentrating her energies on teaching Vocal & Performance Skills for Speech & Singing in Australia & Malaysia and over the years her students have been accepted into courses at WAAPA, AIM, and Mountview Academy (London) and have been cast in many professional shows such as the musicals Wicked and South Pacific, Opera Australia’s Carmen and Turandot (to name but a few), they have performed overseas, worked on cruise liners and in bands; they have won prizes in major singing competitions and passed AMEB exams with Distinction.

Among her variety of Musical Theatre Credits is the original Australian cast of The Phantom of the Opera.
