Australian Bass Damian Whiteley was born in Wellington NSW, studied piano & violin from an early age and graduated from the University of Sydney, RNCM Manchester & IOS at Opernhaus Zürich. He has performed at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, with William Christie/Les Arts Florissants at Teatro Real Madrid (Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea), and the Opera Comique Paris (Deborah Warner’s production of Purcell's Dido & Aeneas) and with Pinchgut Opera in Monteverdi’s Orfeo & Rameau’s Dardanus. Major roles in Germany include Salieri's Falstaff, Graun's Cesare e Cleopatra, Gazzaniga's Don Giovanni, Paisiello's Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

Damian’s recent appearances include Musica Speranza at the Salzburg Landestheater, Bartolo in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Lyric Opera Dublin, Grande Inquisitore in Verdi’s Don Carlo in Spain, the world premiere of Somtow’s Dan No Ura and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte for Opera Siam in Bangkok. He features on numerous recordings including a solo CD entitled ‘Bass Instinct’ with Tamara-Anna Cislowska.

Damian has toured Australia, New Zealand, Germany & Switzerland in ‘mozart & ME’, a one-man show based on the life of Lorenzo Da Ponte, written by Melvyn Morrow. He was engaged at Opernhaus Zürich as repetiteur at the iOS and works regularly as coach to several internationally renonwed singers.
