At The Concourse Concert Hall on Monday night, the Sydney Conservatorium Choir struck gold in two consecutive events. Conducted by Dr Neil McEwan, this magnificent choir began by winning the Sacred Choral Award.

On Tuesday, they returned to the venue to sing in The John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championship for Open Age Choirs. The competition in this event was fierce but the choristers scored another victory and claimed the $5,000 prize. The Shine Chorus finished a proud second with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir hot on their heels in third place.

Nine choirs competed in this championship, and impressed by the overall standard, adjudicators Simon Kenway and Brett Weymark applauded the efforts of all participants.

Place-getters form this event were invited to perform in the 2014 Australian Choral Grand Prix, 2:30pm Sunday 24 August at The Concourse Concert Hall, Chatswood.
