Official retirement has afforded Brian Buggy the freedom to apply vast experience and indulge deep passion for orchestral music, education and composition. With a main focus as conductor of the Sydney Youth Orchestra Philharmonic, a position he has held since 2007 and 3 years re-establishing a symphony orchestra in a private college, Brian Buggy has found an excellent balance of challenge, learning, teaching, composing and touring regionally and overseas. He thoroughly enjoys a wonderful family life, complete with grandchildren as inspiration for compositions and orchestral arrangements.
From musical director/conductor for 15 years of professional Musical Theatre, to 32 years heading a secondary school music department, while composing scores for Film Australia documentaries, writing educational works for all ages of string orchestras, wind ensembles and symphony orchestras, conducting SSO and most Australian symphony orchestras during 10 years of Family Concerts, Brian Buggy is well experienced for the many primary, secondary and tertiary workshops and adjudications he is called upon to deliver.
His many previous Sydney Eisteddfod adjudication tasks have included senior solo instrumental and scholarship events. He is delighted to be involved again with this wonderful organisation.
