Best boys win dance championships at McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod

Two male ballet students from the Inner West recently emerged triumphant in the Sydney Eisteddfod Boy’s Dance Championships. Sydney Eisteddfod has always promoted dance as a suitable exercise for males and since 2009, special championships for boys have featured in their program.

Eighteen-year-old Aaron Matheson of Concord, who won the championship for boys aged 14 years & over the second consecutive year, and received  $500 cash prize, along with a scholarship to the Boys Dance Summer School that will take place at Shore School, North Sydney, from 28 December 2015 to 2 January 2016.  Hugely talented, Aaron also won the Contemporary Dance event for his age group.

In the championship for boys aged 13 & under, Jordan Micallef collected the $500 prize.  Jordan, who lives in Ashfield and studies with Rae Ebs-Gibson at the McDonald College, North Strathfield, will celebrate his 13th birthday in December. He clearly loves to dance, and has a gift for putting his heart and soul into every movement.
