Molly Stewart, a finalist in the 2014 McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod, talks about her favourite songs, musicals, her idols and one very special Sydney Eisteddfod moment.
Why did you start singing?
I’ve always loved singing ever since I was little and loved performing in local concerts. Now, I just love being in the school shows. I’ve played Rumpleteazer in CATS and Martha in The Secret Garden.
What is your favourite song to sing and why?
One of my favourites is I know it’s today from Shrek the Musical because I love to make people laugh when I sing. Also, Let it Go because I love the movie Frozen.
What would you say to someone that was thinking about entering the Sydney Eisteddfod?
Do it! It’s great fun and whether you win or not it’s a really good experience.
What do you dream to achieve?
To be on Broadway playing Elpheba in Wicked!
What was your most memorable Sydney Eisteddfod moment?
Being awarded gold in musical theatre when Lucy Durack was adjudicating. She has been an idol of mine since I saw her in Wicked. Also, I was very proud of getting a silver medal in 14u song and dance last year.
Who inspires you and why?
Barbra Streisand because she has worked so hard and overcome many obstacles to be known as one of the greatest singers of all time.
