Eight of the most promising ballet dancers have been selected to compete in the Final of the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship, held on Sunday 28 August, at the world-renowned Sydney Opera House, Concert Hall.
Each year, the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship attracts emerging young ballet dancers aged 16-20 from across Australia and New Zealand. This year attracted almost 200 talented dancers making it one of Sydney Eisteddfod’s most significant events.
The entrants had to undertake the demanding process of competing in the Heats, Quarter-Final and a closed Semi-Final Masterclass held over a few days. The adjudicators faced the difficult task of selecting eight Finalists out of nearly 200 dancers to progress to the Final and compete for the total prize value of $32,000.

The accomplished adjudicators, Christian Tátchev and Lisa Pavane selected the eight finalists who displayed impeccable talent and superior technique.
For the Final event, Li Cunxin AO, Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet and Aurélien Scannella, Artistic Director of the West Australian Ballet, will join the adjudication panel.
This Scholarship represents one of the most valuable and reputable awards in the southern hemisphere and encourages young ballet dancers to further their studies in the art of ballet.
