Announcing the 2019 Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship judges

Sydney Eisteddfod is pleased to announce that Christian Tâtchev, Chelsea Andrejic, David McAllister AM,  Li Cunxin and Rafael Bonachela will be adjudicators for the 2019 Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship .

Christian has had an extensive and impressive dance career. He completed his training at the National School of Choreography in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has worked with Sofia National Opera and Ballet, Bulgarian contemporary dance company Arabesque, South African ballet companies PACT Ballet, Cape Town City Ballet and South African Ballet Theatre Company and Queensland Ballet. After retiring from stage in 2011, Christian has progressed to the role of Academy Director with the Queensland Ballet.

Chelsea completed training with Conlan College and Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney and the English National Ballet School in London on full scholarship. During her training with Tanya Pearson, she was a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship and was awarded the Silver Medal at the Genée International Ballet Competition. Since 2015 she has been a Soloist with Slovak National Theatre.

Joining Christian and Chelsea as guest adjudicators for the final are: David McAllister AM - Artistic Director, The Australian Ballet; Li Cunxin - Artistic Director, Queensland Ballet; and, Rafael Bonachela - Artistic Director, Sydney Dance Company. 

Each of these adjudicators has a widely celebrated career and dancers performing in this year’s Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship are sure to benefit from their passion and expertise.
