Annalouise Paul has been choreographing dance-theatre and in commercial media for nearly three decades. She trained at the Laban Centre London in Contemporary dance and with key maestros in flamenco in Spain. Her solo and ensemble works include ‘FORGE’, ‘Mother Tongue’, ‘Game On’, ‘Isabel’, ‘Sevillanas’ and ‘Demokratia’. She launched Theatre of Rhythm and Dance in 2011 at the Sydney Opera House and won an inaugural Australian Arts In Asia Award in Dance and the NSW Premiers Export Scholarship in 2013 for two tours to India with Game On.
Annalouise’s works explore cultural identity and transformation utilising contemporary and cultural dance with live music and have received support through DFAT,Australia Council,Arts NSW,Greater London Arts, Singapore National Arts Council and BundanonTrust. She was Commissioning Editor for Critical Dialogues Issue 6 ‘Intercultural’ and Co-Curator for ‘Speak Local’ Interchange Festival 2015 for Critical Path.
Commercial credits as a dancer include Michael Jackson, Bill T. Jones Co, Los Angeles Opera, Antonio Vargas Flamenco Co., and choreographing on numerous TV commercials, music videos, film and TV shows in London and Los Angeles, including feature film, ‘Whatever ITTakes’,Alas Smith & Jones (BBC) and UncleToby’s,AT&T and she was assistant choreographer onTrue Lies working with Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron.
Annalouise has a strong commitment to arts education and community engagement working with marginalised communities in regional NSW,LosAngeles and Kolkata.She has developed and delivered pilot programs since 2003 for NSW Department Of Education,Arts NSW and Australia Council for the Arts.
