Pianist Oscar-Shoyo Wong, finalist in the 2017 and 2018 Sydney Eisteddfod John Alison & Kawai Piano Scholarship, talks about his passion for music.
Who inspires you and why?
Tell us a little bit about one of the piece you are performing in the Final and why you chose it.
Brahms’ music is both technically and psychologically challenging for me, and was not in my comfort zone. I decided to tackle this piece to expand my possibilities and appreciation for this great composer.
What is the best piece of performance advice you've ever heard?
We musicians are serving the music, not the other way round.
What are you hoping to achieve next?
I hope to continue to learn more repertoire, meet new people and share priceless moments of spontaneity with them!
