Sunday 12 August, 2018 saw 27 young actors compete in The Sydney Eisteddfod Actors Championships in the 12-14 years and 15-18 years age groups.
Alex Chorley engaged both the judge and audience members throughout his performances of Clive, The Rabbit and Act 2, Scene 2 of Hamlet, winning the 15-18 years event.
Alex won $1,000 as well as a 2 weeks course valued at $595, from a choice of introductory through to advanced weeklong courses during the school holidays generously provided by NIDA.
The overall standard of acting in the event was impressive with Natasha Nogueira being awarded 2nd prize and Zara Lowe claiming 3rd place.
All three winners impressed judge Anthony Phelan with their mature and insightful performances.
In the younger 12-14 years category, Maeve Cox was awarded first place with her performances of Cheque Please and Fine.
Maeve Cox won $300 and also received two weekend school holiday courses valued at $320 from NIDA.
Callum Treanor won second place and Joshua Arnold was awarded 3rd place for their beautiful performances, with Frances Curtis judging this event.
Sydney Eisteddfod congratulates all performers on their efforts in both events and thanks NIDA for their support as venue partner.
