The 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod festival kicked off in May with a variety of classical singing, choral and speech & drama events, but for aspiring contemporary singers they have been patiently waiting for August to come around for their turn to take to the stage.
Beginning with Vocal Performance and Song from a Musical/Musical Theatre events on Tuesday 1 August, the contemporary singing events are always entertaining and the calibre of young vocalists is widely recognised and applauded.
The Sydney Eisteddfod Junior and Senior Singer of the Year are the two major contemporary singing events this year and will be held on 12 September at Petersham RSL. Finalists will showcase their talents in a cabaret style atmosphere in front of judges Margi de Feranti, Luke Joslin and Bev Kennedy.
Past entrants such as Marlisa Punzalan and Anja Nissen, have gone on to be featured on TV shows such as The X-Factor, The Voice and The Voice Kids and this year will surely reveal many more singers with promising careers ahead of them.
Sydney Eisteddfod can not wait to hear of all the wonderful results and performances that will take place of the next couple of months.
